The Training of Trainers (TOT) program on Enterprise Formalization, Business Management, Account Keeping and Taxation Process and Provisions, held from September 25 to 29th, 2023, at Barpeepal Bisauni Homestay in Karfok Ilam, marked a significant milestone in the efforts to scale-up business development services in Koshi Province, Nepal. The program, a collaborative initiative between Tapasya Business Management Pvt. Ltd. and the Nepal Agricultural Market Development Programme (NAMDP), aimed to empower participants to become proficient trainers in critical aspects of entrepreneurship.
The five-day intensive training program saw the active engagement of 15 participants from various locations, who were exposed to a diverse range of topics, including business registration, accounting fundamentals, tax compliance, and marketing strategies. The training sessions employed a variety of methods, such as case studies, coaching, eLearning, instructor-led training, interactive training, on-the-job training, and video-based training, to cater to different learning styles and preferences.
One of the key highlights of the program was its adherence to adult learning principles, acknowledging the self-directed nature of adult learners, their reliance on life experiences, goal-oriented approach, need for relevance and practicality, preference for mentorship, and flexibility in learning methods. This approach ensured that the participants not only acquired knowledge but also developed the skills necessary to effectively train others in enterprise formalization, business management, account keeping, and taxation processes.
The TOT program's success in bridging the gap between theory and practice and fostering connections among participants holds great promise for the growth and development of the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Koshi Province. As the newly trained individuals return to their communities and organizations, they are expected to play a pivotal role in promoting entrepreneurship, supporting enterprise formalization, and driving economic growth in the region.
The collaborative effort between Tapasya Business Management Pvt. Ltd. and NAMDP serves as a shining example of how targeted training and skill development initiatives can lead to positive transformation and sustainable growth in underserved regions. The ripple effect of this TOT program is anticipated to be felt for years to come, as these empowered trainers contribute to the development of a thriving entrepreneurial landscape in Koshi Province.
