Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are the backbone of rural economies, especially in the agricultural sector. Recognizing the need to equip Agri SMEs with essential business skills, Tapasya Business Management Pvt. Ltd. successfully organized a series of training programs titled “Accounting, Business Management, and Taxation Training for Agri SMEs.” These sessions, held in various municipalities and rural regions of Nepal from February to March 2024, saw enthusiastic participation from over 150 entrepreneurs.
The training sessions were conducted in several locations, including Kerabari, Laligurans, Haldibari, Chainpur, and Belaka, engaging entrepreneurs from diverse agricultural backgrounds. Each event was tailored to meet the unique needs of Agri SMEs in these regions.
Kerabari Rural Municipality, Morang (Feb 2–4, 2024): With 31 participants, this training focused on business compliance and financial literacy, facilitated by trainers Suman Pokhrel and Keshab Prasad Bohara. The event was smoothly managed by Training Coordinator Manju Rijal and Event Coordinator Subash Khadka.
Laligurans Municipality, Terhathum (Feb 2–4, 2024): Thirty entrepreneurs benefited from the guidance of trainers Gita Chimoriya and Tara Prasad Dahal. This session featured guest insights from Rastriya Banijya Bank and key local stakeholders like Mrs. Jamuna Magar Karki, Deputy Mayor of Laligurans Municipality.
Haldibari Rural Municipality, Jhapa (Feb 9–11, 2024): Engaging 30 local entrepreneurs, the training here was led by Suman Pokhrel and Bhanu Bhakta Bhattarai, with significant support from local government representatives such as Mrs. Laxmi Devi Mainali, Vice President of Haldibari Rural Municipality.
Chainpur Municipality, Sankhuwasabha (Feb 9–11, 2024): With the participation of 34 entrepreneurs, this session featured in-depth discussions on taxation and business loans, with guest presentations from Agricultural Development Bank Ltd.
Belaka Municipality, Udayapur (March 1–3, 2024): Thirty-two entrepreneurs attended this final training session, with guidance from trainers Suman Pokhrel and Tara Prasad Dahal. The local municipal government and institutions like the Veterinary Hospital and Agriculture Knowledge Center played pivotal roles in its success.
Each training program was led by experienced trainers with a deep understanding of the complexities of managing Agri SMEs. Trainers like Suman Pokhrel, Tara Prasad Dahal, and Gita Chimoriya brought their expertise to life through interactive teaching methods, ensuring participants could grasp even the most complex topics with ease.
Special guest presentations, including insights from banks such as Rastriya Banijya Bank and Agricultural Development Bank Ltd., provided a practical perspective on accessing financial support. These presentations offered entrepreneurs invaluable advice on securing loans and managing their finances effectively.
The success of these training programs was made possible through the dedicated efforts of local governments and institutions. Municipalities, agricultural knowledge centers, veterinary hospitals, and banking institutions played critical roles in selecting participants and ensuring the smooth execution of the events. Their collaboration highlights the importance of community-driven initiatives in empowering SMEs.
